Sales Assistant

Sales assistants carry out clearly defined tasks under the direction of the department or store manager. As a rule, work is carried out according to clear procedures, often to assist other staff in the store.

Main tasks

– arrange products on shelves
– collecting shopping carts and baskets
– bagging products for customers

Competence requirements

As a sales assistant, you need to have a basic knowledge of the main products available and be able to work under the guidance of others. It is important to know the work and safety rules of the workplace, be able to receive and share information and treat customers with positivity and a sense of service.

Study

Sales, marketing and business training has been offered by Mímir – símenntun. The studies are in accordance with the curriculum of the Education and Training Service Centre (Fræðslumiðstöð atvinnulífsins) and may be assessed for up to 51 secondary school credits.
