Construction architecture

Construction architecture is a study program at the university level that is connected to e.g. design of new buildings, renovation of old buildings, negotiating with contractors, cost assessment, preparation of as built drawings and design of fire protection and sound insulation.

  • The program ends with a BSc degree.
  • The duration of study is three and a half years of full-time study.
Study

Construction architecture has been taught at Reykjavík University. RU also offers a diploma degree in construction technology and a BSc in civil engineering.

Requirements

To begin studies in construction architecture, you must have completed a final examination in a field of construction, a matriculation examination, technical drawing studies or construction technology.

It is recommended that applicants have completed a certain number of credits in mathematics, physics, Icelandic and English.

The program is credit-worthy for subsistence and tuition fees at the Student Education Fund (Menntasjóður námsmanna). Trade union education funds often provide scholarships for study. Get more information from your union.

Curriculum

Studies in construction architecture are divided into two parts where the first part is shared in distance learning with construction technology. The second part is project-oriented and takes place in local study phases. The first part of the study program can be started in either autumn or spring, but the second part always starts in the spring semester. The study can be completed in three years alongside work.
