Fish processing foreman

The main tasks of a fish processing foreman are to plan processing, decide which processing methods are used and ensure that the right product is produced according to processing rules. The foreman is responsible for ensuring that all equipment and tools work, that procedures are followed and that safety and quality requirements are met.

The foreman works in close collaboration with engineers and quality managers and distributes tasks to the team leaders but reports to the production manager. The work environment is often multicultural, working hours can vary and working conditions vary.

Main tasks
  • ensuring that the processing area is in order; environment, facilities and safety
  • ensure that production is done according to processing rules and orders
  • communication with sales representatives and promotional work
  • human resources; applications, recruitment, leave and illness
  • programming production lines, configuring machines and responding to failures
  • filing orders
Competence requirements

It is important for the foreman to have knowledge of all aspects and work processes of the processing and be able to organize the work in the most efficient way. Also to be able to respond quickly under pressure, be a good role model for colleagues and ensure that existing projects are completed on time.
