Waste collectors remove waste from homes and businesses and dispose of it in a vehicle that transports the waste for disposal or recycling. A waste collector works as part of a team that follows a waste collection plan in certain areas each week.
The job may involve driving a garbage truck and/or working as a team leader for waste collectors.

• work according to a schedule in certain neighbourhoods
The job of a waste collector can be physically demanding, and it is therefore necessary to be physically fit and have good endurance. It is important to be able to work in collaboration with others and it is beneficial to have knowledge of waste sorting and recycling.
No special training is required in the job, but increased driving licenses are required to perform the job of garbage truck driver.
