Nursing assistance

Skill level: 3

Studies in the nursing assistance study path are work-related and at the secondary school level. The main goal of the study program is for students to acquire the knowledge and skills required to provide specific nursing services. This entails, among other things, assessing the condition of clients and being able to guide them and their relatives.

Nursing assistant is a legally protected job title. The average study period is three years, including 16 weeks of vocational training.

Requirements

Applicants must have completed compulsory education in accordance with the National Curriculum Guide for Compulsory Schools. However, there may be exceptions and it is best to look at this in more detail on the schools’ websites.

There is also a study program at the nursing assistance gateway, intended to make it easier for unskilled people with work experience to gain professional qualifications. The prerequisites are that the applicant is at least 23 years of age, has at least five years of work experience and has completed work-related courses.

Check whether the study program is credit-worthy at the Student Education Fund. Trade unions often provide scholarships for study. Get more information from your union.

Curriculum

Studies in the nursing assistance study path are divided into general subjects, specialty nursing assistance study path subjects, vocational education, and vocational training.

The nursing assistance gateway is intended to shorten the nursing assistance studies, and to this end, only specialized courses, workplace learning, and vocational training are covered. Please note that the study program or part of it might be taught via distance learning.

After graduation

The study program entitles graduates to work as nursing assistants. It is also possible to complete additional studies for a matriculation examination.
